Welcome to Coach’s Corner. On a weekly basis, you will find comments, suggestions, observations, and thoughts from Marcia Cleveland on swimming and on life. The focus Most of the comments will be focused on tips for both open water and pool swimmers, with special tips for triathlon swimmers as well.
Marcia Cleveland has been a swimmer all her life. After her successful age group and collegiate careers, she began swimming Masters (USMS) in her early twenties. Shortly thereafter, she discovered Open Water Swimming, and all the tranquility and challenge it offers. Besides competing in swims and races all over the world, Marcia has the fastest overall elapsed time in the world for her Triple Crown Swims which include the English Channel, Manhattan Island, and Catalina Channel. She has received multiple certificates of recognition from the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame. Her book, Dover Solo, which depicts the training and preparation she did for her English Channel swim, has become a “must read” for all serious open water swimmers. (www.DoverSolo.com) Marcia has been the Chair of the USMS Open Water Long Distance Committee and has also served on several local and national swimming committees. Besides being a world class swimmer, Marcia is also a certified USMS Level 4 Coach, and a USA-Swimming Level 3 Coach, with distinctions as an Open Water Specialist. Her training programs have been automated in her Swim Fit App to provide swimmers with customized training programs with both workouts and yardage plans.
Currently the Swimming Director for VisionQuestCoaching, an elite triathlon training club, and also offers personal training, clinics, and coaching for swimmers and triathletes at all levels and with all aspirations.
She is lives in the Chicago, Illinois area with her husband, Mark Green and their two children.
