1994: The English Channel

​On July 29th, 1994, Marcia Cleveland became the 445thperson to swim the English Channel.  The story behind this swim: the process, the preparation, and the training is meticulously described in her book, Dover Solo: Swimming the English Channel. Discover what motivated Marcia to swim the 23-mile Strait of Dover where the summer water temperature averages only 60F/16C. Dover Solohas become the “Bible” for English Channel hopefuls and other aspiring marathon swimmers.
